Hi again!
Today, I'll describe the world of my story.
(This is relevant only because most of my OCs hail from there. So a bit of background info might be appreciated, who knows.)
The world of 1322 is, basically, our world in the year 1322. This means that I did (and do) a lot of research to find out who would live where, what the politics are supposed to be like, that kind of thing. A few historical facts are integrated into the characters' backstories - those bits I verified. Other bits and pieces had to become a bit inaccurate to serve the plot, and the pace of the storytelling. Others still I simply can't put into the finished product, because that would become way too big a project and these additional facts would be redundant or superfluous.
One of the most important changes is that I integrated various folk myths into the story - as backdrop, as characters and as plot devices. Basically I took whichever myths crossed my path (or could be made, by dint of considerable effort, to cross my path) and put my own spin on them , then integrated them into the framework of the story's world.
This approach led to a sort of Fantasy Kitchen Sink in which creatures of myth and legend roam the countryside. (I will not link to TVTropes here. I value your sanity.

)
The part that makes this interesting (I hope) is that almost none of the mythical creatures are exactly like any one account of them. So you'll find a lot of distinctly "AimOfDestiny-flavoured" things in there.

I tried to be as consistent as possible with how the world might have gotten to that place and how people react to it. The biggest way in which I did this rests entirely on this principle:
Thought shapes reality.
In my world, the way people see things changes the nature of these things, but only if the things in question are in some capacity magical.
That is why gods can change their faces and aspects. It is also why in some parts of the world, trolls are gnarly stonelike fellows who turn into boulders by day, while in others they are brigde-guardians with horns and limited mental capacity.
The core nature of any given creature will, however, remain the same, no matter how much people want to believe otherwise. You cannot make a good god into an evil one. It is impossible to make a god of war into one of wisdom and flowers. It simply will not work.
I hope you enjoy reading these entries as much as I enjoy writing them.

Next up: A very brief summary of the overall plot.
